Sort a pile of unfinished personal tasks

A pile of unfinished tasks becomes manageable once each one has a real deadline and a note about what it is waiting on. Put everything in one message and ask for an order based on those facts.

A text to start with

Here are tasks I haven't finished: renew car registration (due [date]), call the dentist to schedule a cleaning, return library books (overdue since [date]), email [name] about the lease question before they contact the landlord, and sort the filing cabinet before my accountant visit on [date]. Order these by actual deadline and flag anything that blocks something else.

Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.

What to check in the answer

Every deadline in the answer should come from your message. A task with no fixed date should be labeled that way and not given an invented urgency score. Dependencies come first in the ordering: if one task has to happen before another can finish, it goes earlier no matter what its own due date is. In this example, the email to [name] has to go out before they contact the landlord, and the filing cabinet has to be sorted before the accountant visit. If the answer flags a gap, such as a missing date, supply it yourself and ask for a revised order.

What to do next

Choose the top three tasks and ask for the single next physical action on each, such as finding the registration notice or drafting the first line of the email. If the order still seems wrong, describe the constraint the assistant missed and ask it to adjust. Keep the final list where you will see it today.
