A technician who knows the symptom, when it started and the appliance model can often diagnose faster and bring the right parts. Write that description before you call, not while you're on hold.

A text to start with
Help me describe this fault clearly. My dishwasher is a [Brand] model [number], bought four years ago. It finishes the wash cycle but leaves standing water at the bottom. This started two weeks ago and happens every cycle, whatever the setting. I have not opened any panels or touched any components. Write a description I can send to a repair company when I ask for a quote.
Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.
What to check in the description
Read it as the technician would. It should say when the problem started, how often it happens and what changed around that time. Leave out guesses about the cause, since a wrong guess can point the technician the wrong way. If the fault touches anything electrical, gas or water supply, the description should say you have not tried any internal troubleshooting, and that statement should be true.
Sending and following up
Paste the description into your service request or quote form. If the company calls to confirm, have the description in front of you so you give the same details they received in writing. Keep a copy to compare with the technician's report afterward.
