Merchant dispute defense

Stripe dispute evidence examples

Not legal or financial advice. Stripe evidence fields, file limits, and network reason routing change. Confirm every attachment type in Dashboard. This page is merchant defense: concrete evidence categories that map to common Stripe dispute claims. It does not publish fake sample PDFs that claim real wins, and it does not coach cardholders on filing disputes. No invented win-rate percentages.

Someone asks for "examples." What they often get is a stock letter that won nothing, or a vendor PDF stamped as a template win. Ops needs categories: what kind of proof answers this claim, what is soft, what to cut. The social object is a mapped inventory, not a souvenir PDF. That is the moment this page is for.

People searching Stripe dispute evidence examples, Stripe chargeback evidence samples, or example dispute attachments usually get help-center lists and blog galleries. Useful starting points. This page is narrower. It names example categories merchants actually assemble, then routes the narrative through Pingpong CASE MAKER. Sibling how-to: Stripe dispute evidence.

Primary CTAs: Stripe dispute evidence, Stripe dispute evidence upload, win disputes, dispute evidence API. Hub: dispute cases.

Pays for itself: one mid-ticket dispute with attachments that answer the claim (or an honest early refund when they do not) routinely covers Plus and a stack of evidence PDFs. Fee math: pays for itself, Stripe dispute fee. No fake guarantees.

Brand: Pingpong at pingpongit.com. Not getpingpong.ai. First eligible web review free. Web Plus $19.99/month, Pro $124.99/month. iOS three free, Plus $24.99, Pro $59.99. Start on pingpongit.com. Pricing.

What "examples" means here

Examples = categories of proof with a plain description of what they usually show, and when they are soft. Not fabricated case files. Not screenshots of someone else's "won" pack. Not PDFs that pretend a past outcome. If you need letterhead for your facts, use win disputes after the inventory survives review. Do not paste a stranger's template as if it were your sale.

Example categories by claim shape

  • Product not received / shipping. Carrier tracking with delivery scan to the address on the order; signed POD when you have it; warehouse scan outs. Soft: label created only, "out for delivery" with no delivery event, tracking for a different order.
  • Digital goods / access. Account login logs tied to the purchase, download or stream timestamps, IP or device notes you are allowed to store, license key issuance. Soft: a welcome email alone with no access proof.
  • Not as described / quality. Listing copy and photos the buyer could see at purchase, return/RMA policy shown at checkout, chat where the buyer described a different issue, photos of the unit you actually shipped when you have them. Soft: catalog hero shots that are not the disputed unit; internal Slack opinions.
  • Credit not processed. Refund ID, amount, timestamp, and destination; prior refund attempt notes. Soft: "we offered a refund" without a processor refund object.
  • Canceled recurring / subscription. Cancel confirmation, billing descriptor clarity, reminder emails the customer could see, usage after cancel if relevant and permitted. Soft: policy text the customer never saw.
  • Fraudulent / unrecognized (merchant defense when the sale was real). AVS/CVV results as supporting context only (not identity theater), 3DS outcomes when present, prior order history with the same credentials when allowed, delivery or access as above. Soft: treating AVS match as proof of the person; denying clear unauthorized-use facts.
  • Duplicate / incorrect amount. Two charge IDs with timestamps, invoice math, correction or refund already issued. Soft: arguing "customer is wrong" without the ledger rows.

Reason-code maps and compelling framing: compelling evidence for chargebacks, Compelling Evidence 3.0, Visa Compelling Evidence checklist, Mastercard compelling evidence.

How to use a category without inventing proof

  1. Restate the Dashboard claim in the cardholder's words.
  2. Pick the category that answers that claim, not the category you wish they filed.
  3. List files you actually have. Mark soft ones.
  4. Draft a short description that maps each attachment to a sentence via write your dispute description.
  5. Run Pingpong. Cut soft files that hurt more than they help.
  6. Upload via Stripe dispute evidence upload. Submit with margin.

Hard line: legitimate defense of real sales only. Do not fabricate tracking. Do not deny valid unauthorized-use claims. Do not publish or reuse fake "won case" PDFs as if they were yours.

Where Pingpong sits

Pingpong pressure-tests whether your category choice and file list actually answer the claim. Later labs catch wrong-reason framing, label-created treated as delivered, and tone that lectures the cardholder. CASE MAKER: win disputes (first PDF free; Plus includes 5; extras $12 or 10-pack $99; Pro 25/mo). Agent path: dispute evidence API, Stripe dispute API, API for agents.

Paste shape

Stripe dispute ID DISPUTE_ID, reason CODE / category TEXT, amount AMOUNT, order ORDER_ID, Dashboard due date DATE. Cardholder claim TEXT. Evidence categories and file names with have/missing/soft status. Ask: map my Stripe dispute evidence examples to this claim, write my dispute description and evidence index, mark soft claims, list omissions. Do not invent proof. Do not invent sample PDFs or win outcomes. Do not paste full PAN, CVV, bank passwords, or government IDs you are not allowed to store.

When to skip

Skip pocket-change accepts, counsel-owned cases, and clear fulfillment failures you should not defend. Save the free eligible review for mid-ticket disputes where the category choice is unclear or the zip would miss the claim.
