Merchant dispute ritual

Dispute representment

Not legal or financial advice. This page is not a substitute for second-presentment rules, pre-arbitration playbooks, your processor's representment UI, a licensed attorney, or your judgment. It describes a merchant case-builder ritual: use Pingpong to write the representment narrative (second presentment) after a first response failed or was never enough, then pressure-test what new compelling evidence actually changes. Nothing here coaches cardholders on abusive filings.

First response lost or timed out. Fee already hit. Ops asks whether to represent. One model says "just escalate with the same PDF." The stack of old attachments has not grown. That is the moment this page is for.

People searching chargeback representment or second presentment usually get acquirer glossaries and template kits. Useful vocabulary. This page is narrower: write a representment description that adds something the first packet lacked, or decide the honest move is stop.

This is not respond to a chargeback (first response ritual). It is not Stripe dispute evidence (Stripe Dashboard first-pass evidence), though Stripe merchants often land here after a loss. It is not before you file a chargeback (buyer-side). Cluster hub: dispute cases.

Use Pingpong to write your representment description. Default chain: Grok → Perplexity → ChatGPT → Gemini → Claude. Lead with what is new since the first presentment. Later models should refuse recycled theater. Brand: Pingpong at pingpongit.com. Not getpingpong.ai.

Your first eligible web review is free. Web Plus $19.99/month, web Pro $124.99/month. iOS three free, Plus $24.99, Pro $59.99. Start on pingpongit.com. Pricing.

Pays-for-itself when a true second presentment recovers funds that cover the subscription many times. Recycled weak packets do not.

What representment is (merchant-side)

Representment / second presentment is the merchant asking the network to reverse a chargeback decision with additional or corrected compelling evidence. It is not a free redo of the same soft letter. Pre-arbitration and arbitration layers, where they exist, raise cost and formality. If you have nothing new, accepting may be cheaper than fees on a doomed escalate.

Case builder: what must be new

New delivery scan with a date after the first packet. Customer usage logs the first response omitted. A refund offer timestamp the issuer never saw. Corrected reason-code mapping. Proof the goods were returned and restocked. Signed acceptance for services. What is not new: the same invoice screenshot, a louder tone, or a model paraphrase of the losing letter.

Hard line: legitimate defense only. No fabricated scans, no denial of valid unauthorized claims, no consumer abuse scripts.

Five-model handoff on a representment packet

Example shape: Prior dispute outcome TEXT, reason code CODE, first evidence LIST, new evidence since then LIST, fees at risk AMOUNT, deadline DATE. Write my representment description. If new evidence is thin, say stop and accept. Map claims to attachments. Do not invent proof.

Grok drafts. Later models pressure-test novelty and risk. Architecture: Sequential vs parallel AI. AI second opinion. Debias AI.

Future PDF pack path (not live)

Pingpong today writes the representment narrative and gap list. A future API may emit a PDF evidence pack for processor upload. Not live now. Do not miss a second-presentment window waiting on it. Developer docs cover the existing sequential review API, not a dispute-PDF endpoint.

When to skip

Skip when counsel owns escalation, when fees exceed recovery, or when nothing material is new. Use first-response pages instead when you have not submitted yet: respond to a chargeback, Stripe dispute evidence.
