Plan a move between notes apps

Move a handful of representative notes first, not the whole library. List the kinds of notes you keep, export a sample of each and open the results in the new app. Switch only after structure, formatting and attachments survive, and leave the original untouched until then.

A text to start with

I use [current notes app] and want to move to [destination app]. My notes include [types, such as checklists, long documents, tables, web clips, scans or voice memos]. I organize them by [folders, tags, notebooks or none]. Help me plan a migration: which export formats to try, which sample notes to test, what to check for attachments and what could be lost. Produce a plan only.

Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.

What a sample move can hide

Pick samples that stress the format: a note with a table, one with an image or PDF attached, one with nested checklists and an old note with unusual characters. Check whether titles, dates, tags and links between notes survive, and whether attachments open or arrive as broken references. Folder hierarchy often flattens on export, so look at it directly. Search the new app for a phrase you know appears inside an attachment. Export options and limits change over time, so confirm each app's behavior in its current documentation before trusting any line of the plan.

Ask another agent to check the result

Mark every statement about how either app handles exports, imports or attachments as app behavior to check against current documentation. Confirm the plan keeps the original copy untouched and tests each note type with a sample. Point out any step that assumes an export worked without opening the result.

Run the sample test

Export the sample notes in the format the plan names and import them into the destination app. Compare each one against the original and record what changed. Fix the plan where the results disagree with it, then repeat with a larger batch. Keep the original app and its data in place until you have used the new copy for real work, and write that date on the worksheet.
