Organize visits for a relative who wants help

A visit schedule holds up when the person receiving help has helped shape it. Start with what your relative wants and when each person is free, and people are more likely to keep following the rota.

A text to start with

My aunt wants company twice a week and help with errands once a week. Three family members are willing to visit. Draft a rota template with slots for two social visits and one errand run each week. Leave the name fields blank so I can fill them in after checking with each person, and add a notes column for things like "prefers mornings" or "can drive."

Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.

What to check in the answer

The template should show at a glance who covers what and where the gaps are. Confirm availability with each person before putting a name in any slot. The assistant can suggest a structure but should not imply any medical or care assessment. Company and grocery runs are practical help, and clinical support is something else. The rota's wording should keep that line clear.

Where to go from here

Send the blank template to each potential visitor and ask them to mark the slots that work. Bring the filled-in draft to your aunt before it is final, because her view on timing and on who comes for which kind of visit matters most. Revisit the rota every few weeks as availability shifts.
