Make a skill plan from role criteria
Take the skills from the role description and record evidence of what you can already do. Where that evidence leaves a gap, choose a practice task that resembles the work and define how to check it. Keep required qualifications visible as separate requirements.
Target role and source description: [ ] Required skill: [ ] Evidence I already have: [ ] What this evidence demonstrates: [ ] Part of the skill still untested: [ ] Practice task: [ ] Output someone could inspect: [ ] Assessment criterion or reviewer: [ ] Target date: [ ] Result of the assessment: [ ] Further practice needed: [ ]
Courses are not proof
Look at what each course, assessment or work sample actually demonstrates. A completion certificate may carry different evidence from a reviewed project or an assessed practical task. For each skill, explain the connection between the evidence and the responsibility in the role. Make the practice output inspectable, such as a worked example or a document someone can review. Keep unfamiliar tasks marked as untested, and avoid treating confidence alone as proof of ability.
Compare this practice plan with the supplied role requirements. Check what each course, assessment or work sample actually demonstrates and identify any remaining gap. Flag exercises that would not test the relevant skill, and distinguish formal qualifications from practice outcomes. Do not dismiss valid assessed evidence merely because it came from a course.
Choose a first skill
Start with one practice task and choose an appropriate person or published criterion to help assess the result. Someone familiar with the role may be able to check whether the exercise resembles the real work. Update the evidence entry after that review, including feedback and any further practice needed.
