Explain how a group should add to a shared album

Tell contributors what the album is for, what belongs in it, how to name or caption files and who may see or reuse the photos. State plainly that adding a photo to the album does not give anyone permission to post it elsewhere.

A text to start with

I am setting up a shared photo album for [occasion or group] on [platform]. About [number] people will add photos. The album is for [purpose]. Some people prefer [privacy concerns, such as no children's faces or no public posting]. Draft short instructions covering what to add, how to name files, who can view the album and what to do if someone wants a photo removed.

Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.

Steps and consent

Platform steps for inviting people, setting permissions and adding photos differ between services and change over time, so confirm each one in the platform's current help pages before you send the instructions. Separate sharing with the group from publishing beyond it. People in the photos may not want their image reused, so give contributors a way to flag a photo and name who handles removals. Keep the filename or caption convention small enough that people will follow it, and say whether contributors may add photos taken by others.

Ask another agent to check the result

Verify every platform-specific step against current help pages and mark any you cannot confirm. Check that the instructions never treat uploading a photo as consent to publish or reuse it. Identify any privacy preference the draft ignores and any point where a contributor could not tell what to do.

Test with one contributor

Send the draft to one person who did not help write it and ask them to add a test photo using only the instructions. Note where they hesitate or ask a question and fix those lines. View the album from an account that should not have access to confirm the privacy settings. Then send the final version and keep a copy next to the album link.
