A handoff that misses a file version or an access transfer can leave a client stranded once you are off the project. List what you agreed to deliver and ask for a checklist built around those items.

A text to start with
I am handing off a completed project to a client. The agreed deliverables are: [list deliverables]. These accounts or tools need to be transferred: [list platforms, without including passwords or other credentials]. The agreement says ownership transfers upon [describe the condition, for example final payment]. Draft a handoff checklist covering final file versions, access transfers, and a confirmation step for each item.
Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.
What to check in the answer
Match every checklist item against your agreement and your actual files. Remove any item you were not contracted to deliver, or mark it as optional and discuss it with the client first. Ownership language differs between contracts, so confirm the transfer condition in yours before marking that item done. If the project used licensed assets or third-party tools, check whether those licenses transfer to the client or must be bought separately.
What to do next
Send the checklist to the client before the handoff call so they can flag anything missing. Mark an item complete only after the client confirms they received it. Keep the finished checklist for your records.
