Travel planning

Decide whether a stopover leaves time to go into town

A long connection does not automatically mean a useful city visit. Start by finding the time you must be back at the airport and the rules for leaving it.

A text to start with

Help evaluate whether I should leave the airport during this stopover. I will provide the airport, passport country, baggage arrangement and flight times. List the official entry and transit information I need, then build a conservative timeline with a stay-at-the-airport alternative.

Example request. Change the details to fit your situation.

What to check in the reply

Use official government and airport sources for entry requirements, security and transport details. The assistant should leave an uncertain immigration requirement unresolved rather than assuring you it will be fine. Account for getting off the plane, storing bags if needed, both transport legs and returning for the next flight. Check whether the next departure uses a different airport or terminal.

The next step

Make the final decision after seeing the inbound flight's actual arrival and current airport conditions. Keep the outing optional and avoid a booking you cannot cancel. If any requirement remains uncertain, ask the airline or relevant authority. Save the airport alternative so a delay does not leave you without a plan.
